Aboriginal Heritage Walk

As part of the 2020 ACNEM Conference we’re offering 25 delegates the opportunity to journey into the ancestral lands of the Eastern Kulin Nation and learn about traditional land, nutritional and environmental practices with an Indigenous guide. This will be an exclusive, bespoke tour for 2020 ACNEM Conference delegates.

Explore Melbourne Gardens, in the Royal Botanical Gardens, a significant cultural site for the Eastern Kulin Nation. Set off into these ancestral lands with an Aboriginal guide and gain insight into the area’s rich history and thriving culture. Learn about a traditional land ceremony and develop an understanding and appreciation for the customs and heritage of the local Boonwurrung and Woiwurrung people. Discover their connection to plants and explore the traditional uses of plants for food, medicine and tools.

“Den gave us a most enjoyable and deeply poignant tour around the gardens. He spoke from the heart with great passion, expressing the spiritual connection with the land and nature. This is one of the reasons we were visiting Australia is to understand the land and hear from the indigenous people. Thank you Den.” – Douglas & Maria Ramsay

”Jakobi was excellent – very knowledgeable and articulate. Very interesting way to begin our exposure to Aboriginal heritage. We look forward to learning more.” – Mark and Naomi

Finish off your walk with a refreshing cup of lemon myrtle tea, while you share stories and reflect on the significance of Aboriginal culture in Australia, before heading to the 2020 ACNEM Conference.
